Additional bank holidays have been announced for the Queen’s 2022 Platinum Jubilee UK News

It may take more than 18 months to wait but the nation will be treated to an extra day off with the goal of bringing the Queen to 70 years on the throne.

As part of what is being billed as a “blockbuster” celebration for Herjesti’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, people will enjoy a four-day UK-based weekend as the first recognition of a British king reaching the milestone.

The May bank holiday weekend is being shifted to early June and an extra day is being added to the bank’s holiday calendar, promising the government’s four-day event to “blend the decoration and pageantry of British ceremonies with the best artistic” and technical display.

Following a tradition dating back to the reign of Queen Victoria – when an official medal was created to commemorate her 50th birthday on the throne – a Platinum Jubilee Medal will be awarded to a person serving in the public service, such as Armed Forces personnel and Army members.

The celebrations will recognize the influence of the 94-year-old prince during his reign of historic reign, featuring 14 prime ministers since he took the throne in 1952 at just 25 years old.

While the right plans for the Platinum Jubilee are currently being put on hold – events that depend on the success of Kovid-1 and the epidemic tamping – were marked in 2002 with a concert at Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s golden jubilee, dubbed “Party A Palace”. The performance included rock band Queen Brian May playing God Save Queen on his guitar on the roof of the palace.

Indicating what can be expected this time around, the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sports – which hosts the celebrations alongside the royal family – said “spectacular moments” in the capital and other major cities will be filled with community events across the UK and Commonwealth. There will be a four-day holiday from Thursday, June 22nd, with more details to be published in the coming months.

The Secretary of Culture, Oliver Dowden, said: “His majestic platinum jubilee will truly be a moment of historic significance – and it deserves a celebration to remember. We can all look forward to a special, four-day jubilee weekend, when we have a spectacular, once-in-a-generation I will present a show that combines the finest art and technology of the British show, bringing the whole country and the Commonwealth together during His Majesty’s reign.

A palace spokesman added: “The platinum jubilee gives the queen the opportunity to thank her majesty for her support and loyalty during her reign. The Queen hopes that as many people as possible will have the opportunity to join in the celebrations. ”
