Harry Redknapp has backed his former club Tottenham after winning the 2020-21 Premier League.
Redknapp believes Tottenham’s decision to sign Gareth Bale, Sergio Regilon, Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emile Hodgberg and Carlos Vinicius this summer has made them a major force to be reckoned with.
As it stands, the Spurs have picked up seven points from four games but beat Manchester United 1-1 at Old Trafford to prove their credentials.
Harry Redknapp backs former club Tottenham after winning 2020-2021 Premier League
Redcnapp, who led Tottenham from 2006 to 2012 and led them to the 2011 Champions League quarter-finals, believes his former club will ‘upset’ Liverpool and Manchester City this season.
Speaking at Sky Sports, he said: ‘If you really ask me, I think they will be at the top. I think they can win the league this year.
‘I know people will think I’m crazy but I’m looking at that squad. Looks like it’s going to be an open year. See what happened over the weekend.
‘I’m telling you, they’ve got some teams. They got cover in every position. This is a really strong team if someone is going to disappoint the two … ‘
He says their signatures, like Gareth Bale’s, could put Liverpool and Man City under pressure.
Redkanap says Tottenham’s Bell, Harry Kane and son Hyung-Min’s first edge will be ‘scary’
‘Go through that team. Take a look at that squad. Go through that forward line. Son Hyung-min Harry Kane. Gareth Bale.
‘The power to look deeply. They are full of midfield players. Defensively they have two right backs and two left backs. They can be scary. I think Tottenham are dangerous for anyone in this department. Lustful, ask whatever price they have.
‘If anyone else is going to do it, it could be Spress.’
Bell has yet to return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but when he is fit Jose Mourinho will likely use the Welsh man centrally at number ten behind the striker or right-hander parallel to the son.
If Mourinho moves away from his usual 4-2-2-3-1 structure, fans will see Kane play alongside Bell.
Although Pundit Jamie Redknop says he cannot “back up” his father’s views on the matter.
But Jamie Redknop can’t be less confident about the face-to-face partnership.
She told her father Sky Sports: ‘I can’t back it up to you.
‘If Bale, son and why hit it – Bell is not stupid. He came back and put his fame on the line.
‘He knows what he’s capable of, and if they can bring him back to the level that Dad was with him, we’ve got one of the greats in the Premier League.’
Spurs finished sixth last season, 22 points behind second-placed Manchester City and 40 points behind champions Liverpool. As it stands, they are currently sixth in the table for the 2020-21 campaign.
