One of the most interesting concerns window title bar. Microsoft has decided to enable the asbestos effect. This also applies to the “Run” dialog box. You can launch it with the keyboard shortcut Win + R. This change may seem minor but it contributes to the transition of the interface towards a more modern and consistent experience.

This small step is what propels Windows 11 to become a genuine new operating system and not a replacement for Windows 10. It should also participate in making interfaces faster and more responsive.

The second highlight for us is File Explorer. The app now shows preview of files in folders. This addition brings added value especially if the content offers photos and videos. We’ve also made a small change to the battery charge indicator. The power cable is swapped out for a lightning bolt to make it easier to see the low charge level in the system tray.
Microsoft finally improves the Alt+Tab experience. An update is being made to Instant Party Visual to include the desktop wallpaper. This makes it easy to separate the groups from the normal window.
All of these “gifts” are offered for testing through the Windows Insider program. They are available for PCs registered on the DEV channel. Deployments to the “general public” are planned later but we don’t have an exact date.
