IHis approach was delicate. One can imagine how internally Prince Charles must have been hurt when Barbados became a republic on November 29. But when the Union Jack was lowered, folded and stored at the National Archives at the end of the official ceremony in the Caribbean island’s capital, Bridgetown, it was replaced by the standard and the yellow trident was removed from the crown and royal. Monogram, no one can understand the feelings that animated the eldest son of Elizabeth II. Nothing was seen, the heir to the throne did not blink, turning the page of history as if nothing had happened.
Of course, Barbados remains in the Commonwealth. The organization born out of dissolution is a one-of-a-kind club with 54 members, representing more than two billion …
