Measles Exposure Alert at Universal Studios

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued a warning regarding a possible measles exposure at Universal Studios. The exposure is connected to one confirmed case of measles from an out-of-state tourist who visited the Los Angeles area from March 30 to April 1.

During their visit, the infected individual went to Universal Studios on March 30 and the Santa Monica Pier on March 31. They also visited other locations in Los Angeles, including the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream in Beverly Hills, and various restaurants.

Universal Studios has released a statement urging the public to contact the county’s health department for more information on the situation. While the risk of measles transmission is low due to effective vaccination, individuals who were at the aforementioned locations during the specified dates should be aware of the potential risk.

Measles is a highly contagious disease that can lead to severe complications, including symptoms such as fever, cough, red and watery eyes, and a rash. Los Angeles County health officer Muntu Davis stressed the importance of vaccination and the serious consequences that measles can have, particularly for young children and vulnerable adults.

It is crucial for individuals who may have been exposed to monitor their health and seek medical attention if they develop any symptoms of measles. Vaccination against measles is the best way to prevent the spread of the disease and protect yourself and others from potential harm. Stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of yourself and those around you.
