The Russian agency also reports that Spain accuses Algeria of not honoring its promise to supply gas in sufficient quantities, noting that Algiers, despite its obligation to ensure exports of the same quantity, currently It is constrained to double the number of LNG tankers in the U.S. If it has maintained the operation of the Maghreb-Europe Gas Pipeline (GME).

Since the closure of GME, Spanish authorities have reported recurring disruptions in the supply chain through replacement solutions offered by Algiers. Spain is now turning to other suppliers, particularly the United States, in order not to overwhelm its economy with an unreliable source of energy, especially in the context of rising prices and supply difficulties associated with the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
