Para Shooting Sport World Cup: Jakhar wins 2 gold medals, Francis wins silver

New Delhi: In yet another fruitful day for India, Rahul Jakhar won the individual gold in the mixed P5 – SH1 Standard Air Pistol 10m final and helped the country win the team gold at the World Cup. The world of parasport shooting in Chatreaux, France.
After four days of competition in the qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, India’s medal tally is five gold and three silver.
Jakhar, who finished fifth in the mixed 25m pistol final at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, beat fellow Indian Rubina Francis with a score of 367-6 in the last four ends to clinch the gold medal. He maintained over 90 in the first three sets when Francis settled for a 355-7x.
France’s Eden Gail won the bronze medal with the same score of 355 but with 4x.
The 35-year-old Jakhar won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol with a world record at the 2019 Croatian World Cup.
Jakhar’s scores were then paired with Dipendra Singh and Akash, who shot 342-2x and 338-4x respectively as India (1047-12x) won the gold medal ahead of France (1031-9x). Poland (956-5x) settled for bronze.
On Saturday, Paralympic medalists Manish Narwal, Singhraj and Nihal Singh will compete in men’s P1 air pistol- 10m SH1, while Francis, Sumedha Pathak and Nisha Kanwar will compete in women’s P2 air pistol- 10m SH1.
