Nicola Starzan confirms travel ban in Tier 3 lockdown zone

Nikola Starzion has confirmed that travel bans outside the higher-encompassing Covid regions will continue.

The first minister said carbs meant that people could not travel to Glasgow to do their Christmas shopping.

Recently introduced, the ban effectively enforced a ban on people living in the third and fourth regions from leaving their council territory.

There are some such discounts for work.

Sturgeon announced today that some regions will drop from four to three levels, but travel restrictions will still apply.

He said: “Travel bans – which will remain in effect – continue to be an important part of protecting the country with the goal of restraint and proportionality.

“So no one should travel to Level 3 or until Friday for very specific purposes outside of their local authority. And no one should travel to Level 3 or 4 except for essential purposes.”

He added: “I’m scared which means, for example, people outside of Glasgow don’t have to travel there to do Christmas shopping, when retail opens on Fridays.”

The three-tier levels from Friday will include Glasgow City, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, East and West Dunburtshire, North and South Lanarkshire, East and South Ayrshire, Stirling and West Lothian.

Clackmannshire, Dundee, Edinburgh, Fif, Midlothian, North Ayrshire, and Perth and Kinras are also in the three levels.
