The science-fiction series “Doctor Who” reports two departures: leaving lead actress Jodie Whitaker and showrunner Chris Chibnall.
After three seasons, Jodie Whitaker (39) will leave the successful British science-fiction series “Doctor Who”. “BBC” reports. Accordingly, his contract expires in autumn 2022. In the upcoming new season, which is to be aired this year, she will still be seen in the lead role. Like in a three series special.
“I will always carry the doctor and the things I have learned with me,” Whitaker said in a statement. In addition, the 39-year-old, who has been the first woman to play the eponymous doctor since 2017, thanked the entire team of the cult series: “My heart is full of love for this show.”

In the same breath as Whitaker, showrunner Chris Chibnall (51) announced his retirement. Chibnall, who joined the show with Whitaker in 2017, explains, “Jody and I made a ‘three seasons and an end’ pact at the beginning of this journey of a lifetime.” Your “shift” is now over and it’s time to quit.
