Will the Chancellor be pleased with this tribute? A company from Bavaria brings Angela Merkel into the living room of the Germans.

Coburg – Angela Merkel is now joining Barack Obama and King Ludwig: At the end of her term, a Coburg teddy factory produced a stuffed bear that is reminiscent of the chancellor. The Merkel Diamond, Germany chain, blazer and hairstyle make the nearly 40 cm tall bear recognizable as the chancellor. Who will now replace the 67-year-old will be decided during the federal election to be held on 26 September.

“We try to convey moments of contemporary history in Teddy Bear as an art form,” explained Managing Director Martin Hermann German Press Agency (DPA). The “personality bearer” is a tradition in the 101-year-old Upper Franconian family business: in addition to Obama and King Ludwig, there are replicas of former Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and Queen Elizabeth II Hermann.

Merkel teddy bear costs 189 euros. “These are not children’s toys, they are collector’s items,” Hermann said. 500 pieces will be produced – and one of them will go to the Chancellor himself.

CSU lawmakers must hand over Merkel-Teddy in Berlin

The Bundestag member of the Coburg constituency, Hans Michelbach (CSU), was taken with him to Berlin. The MP must hand over the copy with the number “16” – symbolically for the duration of Merkel’s term – to the chancellor. (left with dpa) * Merkur.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
