Family grief after the death of Lisbeth and Marius

During the holidays, Marius Brustade went to visit his mother, Lisbeth Neras – and both were in the area that landslides occurred on New Year’s Eve.

On Saturday, rescuers managed to find the 54-year-old mother who died in a landslide.

The next day, the son is also found.

The family has now issued a statement in which they tell about the grief.

– Yesterday we received the overwhelming message that our much loved Lisbeth and Marius had died in an avalanche in Geyserdrum. We finally hoped that a miracle would bring us back to them. We would like to give them just one hag.

– Marius, you were very happy with your infectious smile. You were a role model for your brothers and a son you could only dream of. You were the cornerstone of the family and were friends everywhere.

We will remember our mother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and daughter for all the love, care and support you always gave us around you. You have inspired us to take care of all the people around us, with different backgrounds and differences. We are extremely grateful that you were always there – no matter what we need.


Marius, with your contagious smile, you were a great cheerleader. You were a role model for your brothers and a son you could only dream of. You were a mainstay of the family and you had friends everywhere. The large number of messages we receive are proof of your network and how much you matter to. You were also a grandson, nephew and cousin – always with arms ready for a nice hug with a big smile on your face. You will be deeply missed.


The last few days have been an emotional roller coaster for us. Although uncertainty and scarcity are a stress, we have managed to find comfort in all the wonderful memories we have with you. Everything from event holidays to simple everyday chores. No one can take these memories from us!


We cannot thank you enough for all the help you have received and still receive. Follow-up support from the crisis group and police has been very helpful. All congratulations and condolences from the known and the unknown inspire us to be together and be strong.


We also want to send our condolences to other relatives who have lost their lives. It hurts to say that we understand the pain you feel. At the same time, we encourage search staff to continue the search until all the missing persons are found. We know how important the conclusion is.

We are at the beginning of a long mourning process. We want and need peace to process all the impressions of the last days.

The family continues to tell about the last days – a constant shift between hope and despair.

On Tuesday, 69-year-old Irene Rude Gundersen was identified as one of the seven dead. The Bjørn-Ivar Grymyr Jansen family, 40 years old, his pregnant wife, Charlot Grymyr Jansen, 31, and his two-year-old daughter, Alma, have also been identified.

All seven confirmed dead have now been identified. Three people are still missing in the landslide in the Norwegian Ask.
