World Bank stops aid to Russia and Belarus, H24info

Countermeasures against Moscow and Minsk are ongoing. The World Bank on Wednesday announced an immediate suspension of all aid programs in Russia and Belarus. The Washington institution took this decision “after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and hostilities against the Ukrainian people”.

In Belarus, the World Bank committed 11 projects totaling $1.15 billion. In Russia, she was executing 4 projects representing 370 million. The institution also stressed that it had not approved “no new loans or investments in Russia since 2014” since the annexation of Crimea by Moscow. “No new loans have been approved for Belarus since mid-2020,” she said.
