What can I do in Tier 3 lockdown?

Bradford is talking about the possibility of a Tier 3 lockdown – but what does that mean?

Tier 3 is currently the highest coronavirus alert state

How long will it last?

No one can be sure, but the government has said it will review the restrictions every 28 days.

Who can I meet?

Fewer people than before. You can simply support indoor or outdoor spaces such as a garden, or hospitality spaces with people in your home or support bubbles.

If you can’t really live without seeing your friends, you can meet other people in public places like on the beach or in a park, but only in groups of six (rule of six).

Can I stay with friends overnight?

If that means sharing the roof with someone who is not your family or support bubble.

Also, people outside the Tier 3 area are being ‘strongly advised’ not to stay overnight.

What will work?

Employees are being asked to work from wherever possible. All workplaces must be ‘covid safe’.

And travel?

Again the subject of travel is misleading but you can still travel for work purposes (if you can’t work from home), shops and hospitality places that are open go people must keep their faces covered.

Where potential people are being asked not to travel outside of a Tier 3 warning place.

Will the shops be open?

Although it is expected that most stores will remain open at the discretion of store owners (who may decide to close for their own protection).

Can I drink / eat?

Restaurants and pubs must close by 10pm and provide a table service.

But local authorities have the prudence to tighten the rules.

Pubs and bars can certainly serve a ‘enough’ meal with the purchase of alcohol.

Okay, so what can I do?

Again, local authorities have the discretionary power to close gyms.

Can I go to a temple?

Yes but families must not be mixed. There are exceptions for weddings and funerals.

So can I get married?

Yes but only 15 people can attend the event and the reception is closed.

And janaza?

Up to 30 people can attend the funeral and half of them can wake up (but not at anyone’s house).

Libraries and other public buildings

These buildings are open at the discretion of the authorities. This is probably the best to test.
