West Bromwich Albion are interested in Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer, according to reports.

Slaven Bilic wants to strengthen his options in defence after leading the Baggies back to the Premier League.

Brighton centre-back Shane Duffy has been heavily linked but he is thought to prefer a move to Celtic and according to the Athletic, Albion have identified Norway international Ajer as another option for the summer window with ‘discussions’ having been held.

Celtic are thought to value the 22-year-old at around £20m and are reluctant to let him go as they chase down a 10th Scottish Premiership title in a row.

Ajer was a key performer for Neil Lennon’s side last season, making 49 appearances in all competitions.

He has been linked with Liverpool recently, reports in the national press claiming he is seen as a replacement for Dejan Lovren after the Croatia defender’s move to Zenit St Petersburg.

Duffy, meanwhile, wants regular football after struggling for game time under Graham Potter at Brighton.

West Ham United are also interested in the 28-year-old defender, who has plenty of options ahead of next season.
