Welshman Cleverly to defend WBA World Light-Heavyweight title on Mayweather Vs McGregor undercard

Nathan Cleverly will defend his WBA World Light-Heavyweight title against Badou Jack on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather vs Connor McGregor on August 26th.

The 30 year-old from Caerphilly will take on the Swede, who is promoted by Floyd Mayweather, on August 26th in Las Vegas.

The British fight fans are aware of Badou Jack after two fights with British fighters in George Groves and James DeGale - the former WBC champion beat George Groves in a split decision on September 12th 2015.

After a thrilling fight with IBF champion James DeGale, the fight ended up in a Majority draw and now the former WBC champion will make the step-up to fight at Light Heavyweight.

Nathan Cleverly will make his first defence of his belt in Las Vegas after winning it against Juergen Braehmer after the German retired with a dislocated elbow at the end of the sixth round.

However, it won’t be an easy fight by any means for the Welshman. The 33 year-old, nicknamed ‘The Ripper’ has won 21 out of his 24 bouts, 12 of them being by knockout.

Although Jack is older, Cleverly has had more experience in boxing, having had nine more fights than Jack and will be hoping his experience will pay off in the ring when they go head-to-head on the 26th of August.

Cleverley has won 30 of his 33 fights - 16 of them have been by knockout and the orthodox Welsh fighter will be vying to improve his record to 31 out of 34 fights won when the two meet in August.
