US President Biden arrives in UK

Before the G7 summit, Joe and Jill Biden landed in eastern England. In addition to bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Johnson and Chancellor Merkel, the US President and his First Lady also visit the Queen.

US President Joe Biden arrived in Great Britain on Wednesday, two days before the start of the G7 summit in Cornwall. His plane landed in the evening at Mildenhall Air Force Base in eastern England, which is used by the US military. The US President is accompanied by First Lady Jill. This is Biden’s first foreign trip since taking office in January.

A bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is planned in Cornwall on Thursday. The heads of state and government of seven major western industrialized countries meet from Friday to Sunday at the seaside resort of Corbys Bay.

The Bidens meet the Queen

Biden also wants to sit with Chancellor Angela Merkel on the sidelines of the G7 summit. At the end of their visit to Great Britain, the US President and First Lady will be received by Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle near London on Sunday.

On Monday, Biden will attend the NATO summit in Brussels, where a top meeting with EU representatives is on schedule the next day. Biden will have a much-anticipated summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva on Wednesday next week, before the US president returns to Washington.
