A Welsh hotel has been named the best in the UK by TripAdvisor – and it’s not the first time its successes have been celebrated.
Lawton & Lauriston Court Hotel in Llandudno was named Top Hotel in the UK, also ranking 3rd in Europe and 13th in the World overall – in the 2020 Travellers Choice awards.
It was also named best bargain accommodation in the world in TripAdvisor’s 2015 Travellers’ Choice awards.
In addition, Llandudno celebrated more success as the Elm Tree Hotel walked away with the award for best service in the UK as well as being ranked 22nd in the world for romantic stopovers.
Milverton House was 21st in Europe in the Small Hotel category, and Between the Bays 19th in Europe in the B&B section.
It’s good news for the Welsh town that suffered badly as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The area also celebrated much success in awards of a similar nature back last year.
Carol-Lynn Robbins, director at the Lawton & Lauriston Court Hotel, told North Wales Live : “To say we are delighted is an understatement.
“We are a family-run hotel and have a great team who compliment our ‘nothing is any trouble’ approach.
“Since 2010, we have expanded from an 11-bedroom B&B, to a 35-bedroom hotel, serving evening meals too.
“We are never complacent and always looking for ways to give more and improve on what we already have.
“We took advantage of the lockdown period (when safe to do so) to spruce up the hotel with a lick of paint – inside and out.”
She added: “We’ve been grateful to win so many Travellers Choice awards over the years, and every year we have used that as the spark to improve and grow the business.
“To now earn the number one spot in the Top Hotels category, against some incredible competition across the UK, and to know that it is all down to the feedback from our own guests, it really does make all the hard work worthwhile.”
The 2020 Travellers’ Choice Awards celebrate travellers’ favourite hotels, restaurants and airlines around the world.
The awards are given based on the quality and quantity of the millions of reviews, opinions and ratings collected on TripAdvisor in 2019.
This information was collected before the pandemic.
With more than 8.7 million businesses listed on Tripadvisor, the awards are stated to be a true testament to the outstanding service and quality that winners consistently provide to their guests.
“This has been an incredibly tough year for the UK’s hospitality industry, but with doors opening again to hotels and restaurants across the country, now is the right time to celebrate those businesses that have delivered consistently outstanding service and quality over the last year,” said James Kay, TripAdvisor spokesperson.
“With so many winning properties coming from the UK this year, it is testament to the high standards of hospitality we enjoy domestically, and that should give Brits the confidence to venture out and support the industry’s vital recovery.”
