The World Championships in Flanders boosted the local economy by 27 million euros

The UCI has assessed the economic impact of the Cycling World Championships in Flanders, particularly on the host cities along with Knockke-Heist, Bruges, Antwerp and Leuven. The event attracted over one million unique visitors during the week, including over 100,000 foreign visitors.

According to data from the UCI and the Flemish Ministry of Tourism, 10% of visitors came from abroad (the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom and Germany), 30% of them had never visited Flanders and 83% had also planned to return. . Flanders. 90% of international visitors declare that they would recommend Flanders as a vacation destination to their family, friends and acquaintances. Visitors on average spent 4.5 nights in Flanders and spent less than €36 million in total during their stay in Flanders.

Overall, the UCI Road World Championships brought a gross additional value of €27.4 million to the Flemish economy.
