According to ANSES data, 95% of French people do not have an adequate level of activity, exposing their health to the risk of deterioration.
Physical activity is important for our mental and physical health. According to a study published on Tuesday by the National Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Protection Agency (Anses), 95% of French people do not exercise enough physical activity and suffer from an excessively sedentary lifestyle. A condition that is clearly subject to the risk of deterioration of his health.
Almost all French people don’t play enough
To reach this conclusion, the ANSEE measured the level of exposure to lack of physical activity and related risks based on two studies, one dating from February 2016 and the other from June 2017. The latter also excluded pregnant and postmenopausal women. Following this analysis, the researchers reported for the first time that women were most affected by a lack of physical activity. 70% of them will actually have activity levels below those identified as being in good health. 42% of men are also affected by this condition.
Regarding the topic of a sedentary lifestyle, studies show that spending more than 8 hours in a sitting position each day poses a health risk. Adults with a low level of education, as well as those under the age of 45, will be most affected by a sedentary lifestyle. 38% of adults will also be exposed to a level of sedentary life of more than eight hours. For residents of le-de-France, two hours of sedentary time should be added compared to residents of rural areas.
The ANSEE then states that the dangers associated with insufficient physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle are: increased risk of heart diseases, certain cancers or even diabetes. The agency also specifies that more than a third of adults have a high level of sedentary lifestyle and insufficient physical activity.
