Houston officials await thousands of mourning during today’s visit George floydDeath under police custody in Minneapolis sparked protests around the US and all over the world.

“We estimate that we will approach 10,000 and we are getting ready for this,” he said.
In order to comply with social distance rules, 15 guests will be allowed at a time inside the Praise Fountain. Guests will be allowed to stay no more than 10 minutes after watching the body. Guests are required to wear masks and gloves, and casual clothing is allowed.
Floyd’s connection to Houston: Floyd, 46, grew up in the city’s Third Ward. He graduated from Jack Yates High School in 1992 and helped the football team win the state title. ‘He played basketball there,’ Lemon said.
Before moving to Minneapolis, Floyd was well known on the Houston music scene and was competing with a band called Screwed Up Clik (SUC).
According to Houston Police Chief Sanat Acevedo, Floyd’s body is already in Houston.
“#GeorgeFloyd and his family are safely in Houston,” tweeted Sunday.
“It was a great event that our city took him back home,” Acevedo said. “It is well known, it is recognized by many of our officers. We want to make sure the family is safe, the movement is safe. We want to make sure that the family knows we are here for them and we support it”.
