Swansea City and Crystal Palace chasing Fenerbahce right-back Gregory Van der Wiel

Crystal Palace and Swansea City are both chasing the signature of Fenerbahce right-back Gregory Van der Wiel.

The Dutch international is out of favour at the Turkish club following the appointment of Aykut Kocaman as First Team Manager.

Turkish outlet A Sports say that Van der Wiel has received numerous but nothing is clear as of yet as he contemplates his future away from Fenerbahce.

“There are some offers. I am evaluating them but there is nothing clear as of yet.”

Swansea have already been linked with a move with a right-back most recently in French right-back Frederic Guilbert, with Paul Clement looking to add strength in depth in the attacking positions.

Last season the Swans were linked with a move with van der Wiel as his Paris Saint-Germain contract expired but he instead opted to play for Fenerbahce.

Crystal Palace though may hold an advantage though in negotiations due to fellow Dutchman Frank de Boer being the Eagles manager as he looks to bring a touch of the Netherlands to South London.

The World Cup finalist was part of one of the most successful youth academies in European football as he played for Ajax up from 2007 to 2012, playing two years under de Boer.

His career has seen him accumulate 46 international caps as well as six league titles and seven domestic cups which would see a winning pedigree added to the back-line of the Swans defence.

The Swans already have four Dutch players to choose from in Mike van der Hoorn, Leroy Fer, Luciano Narsingh and summer recruit Erwin Mulder.

As the player is under contract and still has three-years left on his contract but it is expected that a small fee would be involved as The Yellow Canaries look to recoup some of their lost earnings on him as they comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
