Swansea City join race for in-demand Leicester City winger Demarai Gray - reports

Leicester City winger Demarai Gray is reportedly the subject of interest from Swansea City as Paul Clement looks to bolster his squad ahead of next week’s opener at Southampton.

Reports indicate that 26 year-old Gray, whose game time is primarily limited to substitute appearances, held talks with Leicester City’s management earlier this week to discuss his future.

A move for Gray, an exciting prospect who scored twice for the England U-21’s during the recent UEFA European Championships in Poland, could display a real attacking intent from manager Paul Clement and excite the Swans faithful

And According to reports in The Sun, Swansea are ‘in the hunt’ for the gifted winger, who has played 42 league games since joining the Foxes from Birmingham City in January 2016.

Several other Premier League clubs are said to be interested in Gray, including Bournemouth, Everton and Spurs. Borussia Dortmund are also reportedly keeping tabs on him, while Liverpool emerged as a potential suitor this May.

It appears increasingly likely that Sigurdsson will leave the Swans for Premier League rivals Everton and some of his reported £50 million fee could give the Swans licence to submit a bid for Gray.

On the other hand, Spurs have been slow to conduct their business and could be lining up swoops for Gray as well as others including Ross Barkley. Given their status as a Champions League side, they surely present the most obvious choice for Gray.

It is not beyond doubt that Gray will move at all, however. In a previous interview with Sky Sports, Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare said: “He’s a young lad and I understand the frustrations but hopefully this season we will see him playing more.”

If Gray were to move, it could have implications for the future of Wales international winger Tom Lawrence, who may become part of Shakespeare’s first team plans as a result of one less winger on the club’s books.
