Swansea enter talks with Manchester City forward Wilfried Bony after deal agreed

Swansea City are free to speak to Manchester City forward Wilfried Bony after a deal was agreed in principle with the Citizens.

The 28 year-old moved to the Etihad Arena after making a £28million from the Swans back in January 2016 but has seen his first team opportunities limited.

The Ivorian now could be set for a dream return to the Liberty Stadium as he looks to recapture his form in his first spell at the club.

It is believed that Bony is not the only forward that Swansea have a deal in place for according to Wales Online and are considering their options as they look to recruit more attacking options with the apparent loss of Gylfi Sigurdsson and rumoured interest in Fernando Llorente.

A possible stumbling block though could be the strikers current wage which is at £130,000 a week but could consider taking a possible wage-cut to further enhance the chances of a reunion in South Wales.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Bony wanted a chance to prove his worth to manager Pep Guardiola, feeling that he has a lot to offer to the club but was shunned for the clubs pre-season tour.

‘I’ve been through a difficult time - (but from) leading the goalscoring two years ago, it’s still me, nothing has changed, just a difficult time. I just want to show them I can do more than that, so I just need to get myself ready.’

Last season Bony spent the season out on loan at fellow Premier League side Stoke City where he scored a total of just two goals in 11 competitive appearances.

Bony’s time as a Manchester City player has seen him pick up a respectable 10 goals in 46 appearances under former manager Manuel Pellegrini but is not in the plans of current Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

Compare and contrast that to his two seasons at Swansea City where he scored 35 goals in 70 appearances overall for the Swans, averaging a goal a game.

If Bony were to sign for the club then they would hope it would be wrapped up before the season opener against Southampton as star forward Fernando Llorente is currently out injured with an arm injury and looks set to miss out.

The Swans now travel back to South Wales after their successful USA tour where they remained unbeaten and will progress with their transfer business both coming in to the club and out.
