Newcastle United are reportedly keen to lure Swansea City’s winger Jefferson Montero to St James’ Park.
The 27 year-old played just 375 minutes last season following an injury-hit season. The Ecuadorian featured just 16 times in all competitions for the Swans last season.
Montero first joined the Swans in 2014 on a four-year deal, and has gone on to make 66 first team appearances.
And according to HITC, Premier League newcomers Newcastle United are keen on securing the winger’s services for around the £4 million mark.
The tenacious winger has also made 63 International appearances for Ecuador, scoring a total of 10 goals, and with Montero reportedly fallen out-of-favour at SA1, Newcastle United could become his next destination.
It is also believed that the winger has offers from abroad, but is keen to stay in the Premier League, but whether that is at the Liberty Stadium or elsewhere remains to be seen.
With the Magpies recently promoted to the Premier League and keen to strengthen their current squad, he could be the perfect fit on Tyneside.
The former Villarreal winger was once compared to Sir Stanley Matthews by football pundit Martin Keown, and if he does join Newcastle United, the Geordies will be hoping he can live up to them high expectations.
Montero is known for his dribbling abilities and being able to glide past defenders with ease - he also got a good eye for a delivery into the box, and if he makes the switch to Newcastle United and can replicate what he did in his early days at SA1, there is no doubt Rafa Benitez will take him in a heartbeat.
