Swansea City interested in Leeds United hotshot Chris Wood - reports

Swansea City are being linked with a move for Leeds United hotshot Chris Wood amid talks the club have slapped a £20 million price tag on their striker.

The Swans are thought to be keen on the 25 year-old, who endured an excellent campaign with the Whites, netting on 27 occasions, meaning he was the Championship’s top scorer last season.

Paul Clement is keen to bolster his attacking line with Spaniard Fernando Llorente being linked with a move to Premier League Champions Chelsea and New Zealand striker Wood could be the ideal replacement for the former Athletic Bilbao striker.

And The Daily Express report that the Swans are interested in securing the striker’s services alongside Premier League rivals Stoke City and Southampton.

Wood was also linked with a shock move to Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Quanjian in January, but a deal failed to materialise.

New manager Thomas Christiansen will be desperate to keep hold of Wood, who was in exceptional form last season, but Paul Clement will hope to lure him away from Elland Road.

Despite his excellent form last season, it still wasn’t enough for Leeds United to warrant promotion as the Whites narrowly missed out on the Championship play-off places.

The New Zealand international first joined the Whites in 2015, and he has gone onto make 80 appearances, scoring on 40 occasions.

Wood has also been prolific internationally with New Zealand - in the 52 times he’s featured for the Kiwis, he has scored a total of 20 goals.

With the Swans desperate to avoid another relegation battle in this upcoming season, Wood could provide to be a shrewd addition if Paul Clement can convince the Kiwi to join the South Wales outfit.
