Swansea City are considering making a £10m move for Huddersfield Town’s Danish midfielder Phillip Billing.
The central-midfielder burst on the scene in the 2015/2016 season for the Terriers and has scored in South Wales already after scoring a stunning stroke against Cardiff City.
The 6ft 5 in attacking midfielder could be seen as a long-term replacement for Gylfi Sigurdsson should the Icelandic midfielder leave the Liberty Stadium as his move will free up funds to invest in other positions and in his replacement.
The Telegraph say that Swansea are lining up a bid for the 21 year-old and it could cost them up to £10m due to the prices in today’s transfer market.
He currently has three-years left on his current deal at the John Smith’s Stadium, allowing Huddersfield to have a sense of security on the player and being able to use that as a negotiating tool.
The Danish born-midfielder came through the youth academy of Danish side Esbjerg before moving to England back in 2013, where he signed a four-year professional deal with the club.
He impressed in both the U18 and U21 squads, where his long range-passing was highlighted as one of his key traits.
Billing was part of the Terriers side that lost 5-1 to Manchester City in the FA Cup back in March but received praise from pundits alike for his individual performance.
His performances last season saw him earn the clubs ‘Young Player of the Year’ award as well as ‘Goal of the Season’ for his thunderous strike against Cardiff City in their 3-1 defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The one-time Denmark U19 international would be sure to win many caps should he play first team football in England’s top flight, whether it is with his current club Huddersfield or Swansea City.
