Strong demand for influenza vaccination

(Alexandre D’Estas) –The first day of making an appointment for a flu vaccination was a success in Bas-Saint-Laurent.

5,950 people booked a place during the day yesterday, or 86.7% via the site and 13.3% by phone at 1-866-445-0601.

Obviously, it is always possible to make an appointment by internet or by phone between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Influenza vaccination is free and strongly recommended for the following customers: people 75 years of age and older, pregnant women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, as well as children 6 months and older, and those with a chronic illness such as diabetes Adults suffering from, a weakened immune system, heart disease, lung disease or kidney disease. It is also accessible to relatives and natural caregivers and health workers of vulnerable people.

Each fall, about 34,000 people are vaccinated against the flu in Bas-Saint-Laurent. Finally, it is important to know that the COVID-19 vaccine does not protect against influenza.
