Singer Ed Sheeran tests positive for Covid-19 ahead of album release

British pop star Ed Sheeran announced on Sunday 24 October that he had tested positive for Covid-19, less than a week before the much-anticipated release of his new album. “A quick word to let you know that I unfortunately tested positive for covid and therefore I am going into isolation”wrote on his Instagram account the composer and performer of the worldwide hit “Shape of You” (2017).

“So I will not be able to meet my commitments personally at this time and will do as much as possible for the planned interviews and performances from home”, Continued 30-year-old singer living in Suffolk in the east of England. Their next album, “=”, is due out on Friday 29 October, so they had planned performances and interviews in this context.

Ed Sheeran performs at the Earthshot Climate Awards ceremony hosted by Prince William in London on October 17. Her new album marks the return of the singer, who took a hiatus following the birth of her daughter in the summer of 2020.
