Recall Alert: Salmonella Concerns for Ready-to-Eat Charcuterie Meat Sampler Sold at Sams Club

Title: Salmonella Contamination Triggers Recall of Busseto Foods Charcuterie Products

In a recent announcement, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has declared a recall of approximately 11,097 pounds of Busseto Foods charcuterie products due to salmonella contamination. The recall was initiated by the parent company, Fratelli Beretta USA, in order to safeguard consumer health.

The recall pertains specifically to cured meat sampler products, which were sold in twin packs containing two 9-ounce packages. These products were manufactured on October 30, 2023. The USDA advises consumers against consuming these products and urges them to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase.

Identified as “BUSSETO FOODS CHARCUTERIE SAMPLER Prosciutto, Sweet Sopressata, and Dry Coppa,” the affected products can be recognized through their lot code L075330300 and a “BEST IF USED BY APR 27 24” stamp. These items were distributed to various Sam’s Club distribution centers in states such as Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The recall was instigated after a sample, collected by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, tested positive for salmonella. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns that salmonella can cause severe infections, manifesting in various symptoms including nausea, diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

As authorities continue their investigation into this recall, concerns regarding a potential outbreak remain. Consumers are advised to exercise caution and follow the instructions provided by the USDA and FDA.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of food safety protocols in the manufacturing and distribution of products. Fratelli Beretta USA, in collaboration with the USDA and FDA, is making every effort to swiftly address this issue and ensure the safety of its customers.
