A statue of Diana, Princess of Wales, commissioned by the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex, will be set up on what would have been her 60th birthday, Kensington Palace states.

It will be put in the yard of the London palace on 1 July 2021.

The statue was commissioned by the princes in 2017 to mark the 20th anniversary of their mother’s death and to “recognise her optimistic influence”.

On Monday it will be 23 decades considering the fact that she was killed in a vehicle crash in Paris.

Kensington Palace explained set up of the sculpture experienced been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, but it would be unveiled in the Sunken Backyard garden upcoming 12 months.

It has been designed by artist Ian Rank-Broadley, whose portrait of the Queen appears on all Uk cash.

A memorial back garden known as the White Back garden was also planted at Kensington Palace to mark the 20th anniversary of her demise.
