Get your Hollywood baked goods ready and handshake, because The Great British Bake Off is back for 2021.
Here’s everything you need to know, including when the next Bake Off series airs, how to watch the show in the US, who it will be this year, and how to apply yourself to participate in the main series.
When does the Great British Bake Off begin?
Channel 4 has not yet revealed the start date for GBBO 2021, but in previous years, Bake Off began around August/September. Last year the show started from September 22, so there is a possibility that Bake Off 2021 will start in September as well.
In these modern times, you don’t have to watch bakers wrestle with just a technical recipe the traditional way. Instead, you can watch all 4 – with live or on demand catch-up – via a wide range of devices including smart TVs, game consoles, media streamers, phones and tablets.
GBBO Presenter and Judge
Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding will both return to hospitality duty. Fielding was absent from the Christmas special because he was on parental leave, but it has been confirmed that he will return. As always, Pru Leith and Paul Hollywood will judge the proceedings.
Great British Bake Off candidates
We don’t have a complete list of contestants competing in Bake Off yet. Channel 4 announces them a few weeks before the show starts, so we hope to hear about them soon. After doing that, we will update this article.
Who won GBBO 2020?
The final of The Great British Bake Off 2020 was held with three contestants; Pierre, Dave and Laura. It was a tough call between Peter and Dave, but daring with his loss, Peter just managed to grab the trophy. He is the youngest contestant to win Bake Off.
Where to watch Bake Off from outside the UK
As always, Bake Off is available through regular UK TV (or however you get your TV), airing on Channel 4.
If you want to watch from outside the UK, such as the US, where you know it as The Great British Baking Show, there are a few ways to watch the latest series.
Regarde’s the Great British Baking Show on Netflix
Netflix owns the rights to The Great British Baking Show and typically airs the final episode three days after its UK release. So, as long as you have a Netflix account, you can participate in all the activities in the tent on Fridays. Subscription for this starts at $8.99 per month.
Watch The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4 with a VPN
If you’re worried about spoilers and want to watch the latest episodes ASAP, there’s another way – if you want to watch on Channel 4 website with UK to see if your device is local, VPN (Virtual Private network) use. .
There are plenty of VPNs out there, but our top recommendations are NordVPN and Surfshark, both of which we found to be reliable, fast, and fairly affordable. If you want to see what other options are out there, check out our list of the best VPNs for video streaming.
Once you have downloaded and installed your VPN on your device, here are the steps:
- Connect to a UK Server on the VPN of Your Choice
- Sign up for an account (it’s free, but requires your email)
All 4 requires you to turn off all ad blockers – this includes any optional ad blocking in your VPN – so be sure to do so before trying to watch. If you still can’t connect, try another server in your VPN until you find the one that works for you.
Please note that this is against ALL 4’s Terms of Service, so do so at your own risk.
