It looks like Microsoft recently released Windows 10 version 2004, but the software giant may now release its successor. So, what’s new in Windows 10 version 20H2?
Not too much like the big new features, which is a relief. Like last year’s release of Windows 10 version 1909, Windows 10 version 20H2 is a small refinement of its predecessor, with an additional six months of bug and security fixes and just a few major functional improvements.
Here are some improvements to make.
Branding. With Windows version 20H2, Microsoft is switching from all previous Windows 10 versions to a new branding scheme on a year / half-year basis from year / month-based branding. So Windows 10 version 20H2 is the “Windows 10 version released in the second half of 2020”, whereas its predecessor Windows 10 version 2004 is the “Windows 10 version released in the first half of 2020.” This is only temporarily confusing because future Windows 10 versions will use H1 / H2 branding.
Default New Edge is installed. By default the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge Windows 10 version 20H2 is the first Windows 10 version. Previous releases came with Legacy Edge, although Microsoft has been automatically upgrading to the new Edge via Windows Update over the past few months.
New Alt + Tab behavior. This is probably the most controversial new feature of this Windows 10 version. Today, the Alt + Tab lets you switch between all running apps and window openings, but Windows 10 with 20H2 can, by default, switch between all running apps and window openings now And 3 most recent tabs in the new Edge. If you do not like this change – i Hate You can disable it by opening the Settings setting and navigating to System> Multitasking> Alt + tab. Or, you can even access or configure it on the Alt + Tab 5 most recent Edge tab, All Tab.
Start menu. Windows 10 version 20H2 version has very few visible changes to the Start menu, and it’s only clear when you’re using the light application mode: the live tiles are now more subtly shaded than the Start menu background, somewhat lost definition, and all app list icons are a little The tile no longer appears in the box.
Your phone. If you provide your cell phone number OOBE (out of the box experience) during the initial setup of Windows 10 version 20H2, your phone app will be automatically added to your taskbar.
Xbox. If you have a gaming PC, Microsoft will automatically add a shortcut to the Xbox application as soon as you first sign in.
And it is, almost literally, it.
I have already explained how you can install Windows 10 version 20H2 quickly if you are inclined. But as soon as this release came out with the October 2020 update I assumed it would be available in sufficient quantities very soon.
