showbizNetflix and Spotify are teaming up for a new project: ‘The Netflix Hub’. It includes all the official soundtracks, playlists and podcasts of the most popular shows and movies on Netflix. The platform finds a place on the Spotify app.
And the streaming service immediately kicks off with a playlist of blockbusters like “Squid Game” and “La Casa de Papel,” for example. The latter will also lead to a quiz game. In addition, it will also feature lighter podcasts like “Ok, Now Listen,” “Netflix Is a Daily Joke,” and “You Can’t Make This Up.” The platform will also offer an even more in-depth podcast from the popular Netflix series ‘The Crown: The Official Podcast’.
‘The Netflix Hub’ is actually based on an already existing partnership between Spotify and Netflix. Spotify told TechCrunch that. The two companies had previously worked on the film “The Harder They Fall”, which they will also make available on the new platform. Netflix insists that they have not paid Spotify for a spot on the Spotify app. “We create content for almost the same target group, which is why a collaboration with Spotify is ideal,” it seems. Companies see a new opportunity to offer more content in that platform.
The platform is currently only available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland and India. And that for both customers and users who use the app for free. Spotify also wants to make the platform available in its home country, but it’s not clear when that will happen.
