PARIS — A monster display of the Algerian diaspora in France but also in Europe took place in Paris on Sunday, the eve of the third anniversary of the outbreak of Hirac, an unprecedented political and socio-economic protest movement that is rocking Algeria.

Under the slogan “Freedom, Justice and Democracy in Algeria”, thousands of people, mostly from the Algerian diaspora, but also supporters of Hirak, gathered at the Place de la République in the center of the French capital.

The demonstrators called for a “democratic Algeria” and a continuation of the fight for “a radical change” of the system. He also called for the release of all prisoners of conscience.

“Longevity Algeria”, “Revolution is still on the way”, “Stop the repression”, “Get out of the system”, “Yes to the people, not to the army”, so many slogans were chanted by the demonstrators who called for this “persistence”. Wearing the Algerian flag during the “March”.

“We will demonstrate this Sunday for the continuation of the democratic struggle, for the hundreds of political prisoners and to support those among them who are on their 23rd day of hunger strike. The world must know, take a stand and reveal it”, confirm the collectives of the Algerian diaspora on the initiative of this demonstration on Twitter.

Launched on February 22, 2019, Hirak continues to demand radical changes in the political “system” in Algeria.

In addition to Paris and Montreal (Canada), another march has been announced next Saturday in Barcelona.

On Thursday, members of the Algerian diaspora, who came from across Europe, brought together a demonstration in the middle of the European Quarter in Brussels.

Gathered in front of the headquarters of the Council of the European Union, where the EU-African Union summit was being held, protesters called on European institutions to pressure the Algerian government to loosen its repressive hold on the Hirak militants. He also condemned the “participation” of some European states with the Algerian regime in their authoritarian drift.
