A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman was found in a National Trust estate.
Thames Valley police found the body in a wooded area on the Watlington Hill Estate just before 6pm on Friday and are linking the murder to the news of a man being treated suspiciously by a pub a few hours ago.
The arrested man is being treated at a hospital for serious injuries, police said. Police said the victim was in her 60s.
Officers are appealing to anyone who is behaving strangely to Fox and Hounds Pub in the Christmas Common Area of Oxfordshire to contact anyone.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Watlington Highlands around 3:30 p.m. was also asked to contact the force.
Craig Kirby, a detective at the big crime agency, said: “We have launched a murder investigation after the body of a woman was discovered in wooden water this evening.
“My thoughts remain with the family of the deceased woman which must be a very difficult time.
“We are continuing a full investigation to gather what happened to lead to the death of this woman.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
