London panic: Armed police rush to Farringdon after man 'threatens to blow up building' | UK | News

Firefighters rushed to Farringdon Lane next stories of a fire in a flat. But London Fireplace Brigade later on stated right after assessing the condition no fire was observed. The Brigade mentioned it is “now a law enforcement led incident”. Witnesses took to social media to say they have been evacuated from a constructing. They reported they could see armed police at the scene. 

Just one nearby explained: “The police are trying to get him out but he’s threatening to blow up the developing.”

One more person additional: “He’s acquired aerosols or one thing, he is acquired knives, and he’s threatening the armed police officer so they resolved to evacuate just to make everyone safe and sound.”

The Brigade sent 6 fire engines and 40 firefighters to the scene after the alarm was raised soon right after 3pm. 

A spokesman for LFB said: “There was no fireplace but there was a particular person in there threatening to trigger a fireplace.”

In footage posted on line, ambulances and police autos can be noticed parked on the highway.

Cars from the Met’s Territorial Assistance Group (TSG), which specialises in public order policing, can also be noticed in the video clip. 

In a statement, the Fulfilled said: “Police were identified as at 15:11hrs on Tuesday, 11 August to stories of a disturbance and feasible fireplace at a residential tackle on the Peabody Estate on Farringdon Highway, EC1.

“The London Hearth Brigade attended and had been threatened by the occupant.


“Officers attended the handle and the man barricaded himself inside of.

“Officers are attempting to have interaction with the gentleman.

“A variety of neighbouring flats have been evacuated as a precaution.

“Emergency solutions continue to be at the scene.”
