Liam Smith Vs Liam Williams rematch to take place in Newcastle

Frank Warren confirmed the venue this afternoon on his twitter account.

After a thrilling first fight between Smith and Williams, both of the fighters will settle the score on neutral ground at the Metro Arena on the 28th of October.

Warren also confirmed neither fighter was willing to concede home advantage.

The undercard is to feature some of the best local North Nest talent. Also on the card Thomas Patrick Ward defends his British Super Bantamweight title against Sean Davies & Josh Leather faces Glenn Foot, Nathan Gorman faces Nick Webb for the Vacant English Heavyweight Title.

The first fight between the two featured controversy with the fight being stopped unfairly according to some critics.

Many claimed that Williams’ bleeding eye, which stopped the fight, was not caused by a punch, although replays certainly split opinions.

The debatable decision lead to a petition from boxing fans to change the decision of the fight to a ‘no contest’ but Smith kept his victory.

Liam Williams will be hoping to put things right after dominating much of the first fight.
