Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Jean Esselborn will participate in the European Union’s European Affairs Ministers meeting, which will take place in Brussels on 23 November 2021.

Ministers will first oversee the preparations for the European Council meeting on 16 and 17 December 2021.

A presentation by the European Commission on its work program for the year 2022 will also be included in the agenda, along with strengthening preparedness, response capacity and resilience for future crises.

The ministers will then discuss the status of relations between the European Union and the United Kingdom. The General Affairs Council meeting will also be an opportunity for the ministers responsible for European affairs to discuss EU expansion and stabilization and the union process.

Finally, ministers will have country-specific discussions as part of the annual Rule of Law Dialogue. This will be the third round of discussions covering five countries each time after November 2020 and April 2021. This exercise is part of a commitment to making dialogue more focused and more structured.
