Italy will offer to host the Euro in 2028 or 2032

The president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) said on Wednesday that Italy would offer UEFA to host the European Football Championship in 2028 or 2032.

Italy had originally planned to bid to host Euro 2028 or the 2030 World Cup, but a smaller project is more lucrative and gives the country the chance to undertake much-needed stadium renovations.

,The decisive phase for Euro 2028 is in March and we will present our candidacy to the UEFA Executive Committee, which is also open for 2032.FIGC President Gabriele Gravina said during a press conference. ,We will evaluate one of two options. We will do it seriously, because there is a great desire to upgrade the infrastructure, for example in Florence, Cagliari, Bologna and Bari.,

Some Italian stadiums have not been updated since the 1990 World Cup, the last major football tournament organized by Italy alone. In Florence, Fiorentina president Rocco Comiso has repeatedly expressed his dismay in the media that politicians have refused to let him invest in building a new stadium or rebuilding the existing Stadio Artemio Franchi. ,

Several other countries have confirmed their intention to host Euro 2028, including the Football Associations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, which have announced joint bids from the UK and Ireland for the tournament.
