Indian coronavirus: Ulus, opening of one of the largest hospitals in the world

According to the Delhi government, Sardar Patel COVID Care Center, which is the largest facility of its kind in India, was partially operational on Sunday with 2,000 out of 10,000 beds.

8,000 beds remaining in the facility in the Chattarpur area DelhiIt will be available starting Wednesday.

Indian Interior Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the maintenance center on Saturday before launch.

In a post published on Twitter that day, Kejriwal called the center “one of the largest hospitals in the world”.

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Interior tweeted that the 10,000-bed facility “will provide great relief to the people of Delhi”.

Shah confirmed that the facility’s management and operations will be carried out by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

“I applaud our brave ITBP staff who will operate this COVID Care facility during these trial periods. Their commitment to serve the people of Delhi and the people of Delhi is unique.” He added.

The opening of the hospital coincided with the Indian ministry of health data released on Sunday, which showed the biggest increase in the number of new Covid-19 cases daily.

The country reported 19,906 new infections and 410 new deaths of the virus, resulting in a total of 528,859 positive cases and 16,095 deaths.

Delhi became the country’s worst affected city on Wednesday and surpassed Mumbai’s coronavirus installment. With 159,133 cases, more infections were seen only in the state of Maharashtra than in the capital.
