India: Delhi limited to one additional week

« The imprisonment in New Delhi has been extended for a week till 17 May“The head of the city government, Arvind Kejriwal made the announcement during a virtual press briefing, saying that metro services would be suspended from Monday.

Only essential services were allowed to operate during a week-long detention for the first time on April 19 to curb the spread of the virus that had been in a dangerous state for a month in the Indian megalopolis.

However, Kejriwal said that in the last 2-3 days, the rate of positivity has fallen below 25% for the third consecutive day, stating that ” The oxygen supply situation in Delhi has improved. We receive fewer panic calls or SOS from hospitals“. He said that in recent times the Supreme Court orders and the assistance of the Central Government have contributed significantly to improve the situation.

New Delhi has recorded 17,364 new cases of Kovid-19 and 332 deaths in the last 24 hours from the figures announced last week.

In addition, restrictive measures have been tightened in the south of the country, particularly in the state of Kerala and rural areas in the south of the country which are experiencing rapid spread of the virus.

Nationally, a country of 1.3 billion people recorded more than 403,000 new cases and 4,092 deaths on Sunday, bringing the total deaths to over 242,000.
