What You Need to Know About the “DSDS” Juror
Ilse DeLange is on the new jury for “Deutsche sucht den Superstar”.

In addition to Florian Silberesen and Toby Gad, Ilse DeLange is on the new “DSDS” jury. Here’s what you need to know about the Dutch singer.
Ilse DeLange (44), along with Florian Silberesen (40) and Toby Gad (53), form the jury for this year’s “Deutscheland Sucht den Superstar” season (from January 22, 8:15 pm, RTL). A special role, as it would be the first jury in the history of “DSDS” without an experienced Dieter Bohlen (67). The Dutchwoman has many years of experience not only as a successful musician, but also as a juror.

While DeLange was only known to many in Germany through his participation in “Song Mein Song – das Taushkonzert”, he celebrated his success in his home country long ago. Born in 1977 in Almelo, Netherlands, the singer was drawn to music from an early age. She learned to play the guitar and wrote her first song as a teenager. DeLange signed his first record deal at the age of 20 and moved to Nashville to work on his debut album, World of Hurt. Although she was not successful in the United States, her country album peaked at number one in the Netherlands in 1998 and reached five times platinum. This is how the singer gained great fame in her homeland. Their following eight albums also made it to the top five of the Dutch Albums Chart.
Eurovision Song Contest Appearance
In 2014, despite her success as a solo artist, Ilse DeLange decided to form a band. She “finally didn’t want to be alone on stage anymore,” she said at the time as the reason for producing The Common Linnets. With the band, he eventually gained notoriety outside his home country. In 2013, The Common Linnets represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. With “Quiet After the Storm”, the band finished second, 238 points behind winner Conchita Wurst (33). The song then entered the top ten of the singles charts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Great Britain and the Netherlands. The band’s accompanying album was also able to break into international charts.
“The Voice of Holland” and German TV Shows
In 2013, DeLange sat in one of the famous swivel chairs for the first time on the talent show “The Voice of Holland”. Since then she has also coached “The Voice Senior” and “The Voice Kids” in her country. By the latest 2019, she became known to a wider audience in Germany through her participation in “Sing Mein Song – Das Tauschkonzert”. Another career highlight occurred in 2019: Duncan Lawrence (27), who was previously discovered and coached by DeLange on “The Voice of Holland,” joins ESC. Among other things, with the help of DeLange, who handled the stage design for his hero’s performance, Lawrence won the competition. In 2021, Ilse DeLange took part in “Let’s Dance”. After the eighth show, she and dance partner Evgeny Vinokurov (30) had to leave the RTL dance format due to injury. Another project for Dutchwoman begins on German television with her jury post on “Deutscheland asset den Superstar”.
