The White House assured Friday that it takes the necessary ethical precautions during any exhibition and sale of paintings by the US president’s son, Hunter Biden, with a tormented personal life and professional career already beset by controversy.
When asked about upcoming exhibitions of Hunter Biden’s paintings by New York gallery Georges Burgess, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Friday that the president’s sons would “attend the events”.
“It’s not like meeting potential buyers,” she said.
Jen Psaki had already announced on July 9 the establishment of a “system allowing Hunter Biden to practice his profession with appropriate safeguards”, including confidentiality of any transactions and absence of contact with buyers. .
“All exchanges related to the sale of works and their amount will be conducted by a professional gallery owner who follows strict rules. Any unusual offers will be rejected,” explained Jen Psaki.

“Gallery owners will not provide any information about buyers or potential buyers, including their identity, to either Hunter Biden or the administration, which ensures a high level of security and transparency.”
Contacted by AFP, the gallery did not immediately provide details or comment.
The Biden administration, which seeks to present itself as morally innocent, has been questioned on several occasions about the artistic career of the son of lawyer and businessman-turned-illustrator Joe Biden.
The US media specifically points to the risk that industrialists or financiers buy out their works with the sole purpose of attracting good qualities to the White House. According to the press, the amount of the painting will go up to $ 500,000.
Hunter Biden is one of the favorite targets of former President Donald Trump. The Trump camp has regularly criticized the fact that Hunter Biden had economic interests in Ukraine and China when his father was Barack Obama’s (2009–2017) vice president.
He is also the target of a federal investigation into potential tax crimes.
In a book published in the spring, the president’s youngest son described his battles with alcohol and alcohol addictions.
