Premier League rivals Huddersfield Town have told Swansea City that their up and coming midfielder Phillip Billing is not for sale.
The Danish midfielder was linked with a move to Swansea City last week as Paul Clement looks to add more midfield options to his side but Huddersfield are keen to keep him at the club.
A move seems extremely unlikely at he moment with Billing featuring in Huddersfield’s 1-0 victory over Championship side Barnsley in pre-season, where he played 72 minutes before being substituted by Sean Scannell.
The Daily Mail say that Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner sees Billing as one of his players that can make an impact as they make their debut in the Premier League.
Last season, Billing made 23 appearances for the Terriers, with 11 of those coming off the substitutes bench.
He will have to contend with midfielders Jonathan Hogg, Aaron Mooy, Jack Payne, Danny Williams and Kasey Palmer for a starting berth for next season.
The 6 foot 5in attacking midfielder has yet to make a first team appearance for the Denmark’s senior team but a good run of games in the Premier League could see him catch the eye of Åge Hareide.
He’s not the only central midfielder to be linked with a move to the Swans as they were also linked with an audacious move to sign Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere, as they eye a possible replacement for Gylfi Sigurdsson should he leave the club this summer.
It seems now with Billing unlikely to move clubs, the Swans could intensify their interest in Wilshere as Paul Clement looks to ensure the club aren’t in a relegation battle this time round after narrowly avoiding the Premier League back-door last season.
