LONDON (AP) – German national hockey teams finish their games with a defeat against Great Britain in the FIH Pro League.
The women lost to the Olympic champion in London with a 0: 2 (0: 2). The goals for the hosts were scored by Anna Toman (23rd minute) and Susana Townsend (30th minute). The men had previously lost 1: 3 (0: 2) against the British. The consolation goal marked Nickels Whelan in the 58th minute after a 0–3 loss.
Men’s national coach Cass Al Saadi said, “The unfortunate goals conceded are to be booked under apprenticeship.” “I’m glad we played so bravely in the second half.” Captain Tobias Hooke complained: “In the first half we had no fire and access to the game.”
The men’s selection was already beaten 3: 5 on Wednesday. The world number three team still lags behind the world and European champions Belgium. On the other hand, the women won their first match by defeating Great Britain 3–2. However, due to recent defeats after their last two wins, they came back from third to fourth place in the Pro League table.
