With a sweet new photo of Princess Charlotte, the royal family advertises for participation in the butterfly census in Great Britain.
LONDON – Prince William (39) and his wife Duchess Kate (39) advertise a butterfly project with a picture of their daughter Charlotte. A photo spread on the British royal couple’s social media channels on Saturday showed the six-year-old, focused and alert, holding Admiral Butterfly in her hand.
Simultaneously, the royals asked the British to participate in a large butterfly census. Butterflies, said in posts on Twitter and Instagram, are not only beautiful creatures, but are also extremely important to the ecosystem as pollinators and part of the natural food chain.
The counting began on July 16 and will continue till Sunday. Participants can report sightings of butterflies through the app. Environmentalists fear a warm April followed by a cold snap in May could have a bad effect on this year’s count.
