Real Madrid and Wales star Gareth Bale says he’s happy at the Santiago Berneabau despite interest from Manchester United.
Bale who was speaking to Manchester Evening News said his long-term contract which will see him stay in Spain for the next six-years is a sign of his happiness at Real Madrid.
“Yeah, I have signed a long term contract at Madrid. My family is happy and I am happy so, yeah, we will continue what we are doing.”
“As I have said, I am happy here at Madrid. We are winning trophies and I am happy.”
Bale was speaking to the press after winning the Champions League in his home city, becoming only the sixth player to do so in the history of the Champions League.
The Daily Mail had reported that should Bale have started the final on the bench that he would have been looking for a move. Bale did start on the bench but has moved quickly to rubbish those rumours.
The 27 year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester United for the past two summer transfer window with the Red Devils looking to make the most of the uncertainty of Bale’s future but with Bale himself committing to Madrid, they may look elsewhere.
Former president of Real Madrid Ramon Caledron said that Bale will stay with the club despite interest in Chelsea star Eden Hazard who could play in a similar position to Bale.
Injuries have hampered Bale’s season with Isco fitting in for him in his absence but even despite Bale’s reduced minutes he has scored 12 goals and 3 assists.
With Bale now fully recovered from his ankle injury and with a free summer to rest up on, both himself and Real Madrid will be hoping for greater things for next season.
