Former Swansea City star Wilfried Bony attracting interest from Besiktas - reports

Besitkas are reportedly keen to bring in former Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony and will provide stiff competition for the Swans.

It was believed the Swans had agreed a fee for the Ivorian 28 year-old striker just a week ago, but will face competition from Turkish outfit Besiktas.

Besiktas are currently the Champions of Turkey and Champions League football could act as an incentive to bring Bony to Turkey.

And according to the BBC they will rival a bid to lure him away from the Premier League after having limited appearances at the Ethiad Stadium with Manchester City.

The Ivorian striker is contacted at Manchester City until 2019, however, he has scored six goals in 36 appearances for the Manchester outfit in 2015, and was sent out on loan to Stoke City last season.

Ironically following his loan move to the Potters he scored twice during his 10 appearances, both coming against the Swans.

Bony’s power and goal-scoring instincts made him an instant hit in the Eredivisie and the Premier League with Swansea City.

The Ivorian scored 46 goals in 65 appearances during his two-year spell with Vitesse Arnhem between 2011 and 2013 before joining the South Wales club for a club record fee of £12 million on a four-year contract.

It looked like money well spent as he scored on 26 occasions in 54 appearances at his time at the Liberty Stadium before joining Manchester City in a deal worth up to £28 million - it was good business for both clubs, with the Swans earning a neat £14 million profit on the striker.

There is no doubt about the Ivorian’s ability and a move away from the Ethiad Stadium could be the perfect opportunity for him to rejuvenate his career, whether that is at the Liberty Stadium or elsewhere.

There has also been reports from France that Ligue One outfit Marseille are also chasing the former Vitesse Arnhem striker’s services.
