Expo 2020 Dubai: Exploring the Kingdom’s tourist destinations in augmented reality

The Moroccan Pavilion at the Universal Exhibition “Expo 2020 Dubai” innovates by offering its visitors an augmented reality game that allows the exploration of the tourist treasures of the kingdom.

This game, created in partnership with SMIT “Societe Marocain d’Engineer Touristique”, fits perfectly into the theme chosen by Morocco during this exhibition, namely “Legacy for the Future, Sustainable from Inspirational Origins”. The game “The Sapiens Legacy” is a webapp that is played on a smartphone and which allows visitors to the Moroccan Pavilion to live the game experience combining treasure hunt and puzzle solving against the backdrop of tourism products in Morocco.

Thanks to technology, visitors interact with characters and virtual objects in the real world and discover the hidden side of the Moroccan Pavilion.

The Augmented Reality Experience aims to enrich the visitor experience in each room of the pavilion thus allowing the exploration of the tourist potential of Morocco with technological features in a fun way.

The web app also offers an innovative way to immortalize this experience with selfies in the colors of the Kingdom that they can share on social networks and keep as mementos of their trip. A fun educational activity for adults and children.

It should be noted that since the opening of the Morocco Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, the game “The Sapiens’ Legacy” has already been a huge success with visitors with more than 10,000 players of all nationalities.
