Everton reportedly agree £45m move for Swansea City ace Gylfi Sigurdsson

Everton and Swansea City could be about to bring this summer’s transfer saga to an end as the Toffees looked to have agreed a fee with the Swans for the services of Gylfi Sigurdsson according to reports.

Swansea’s most influential player hasn’t been part of Swansea’s pre-season tour of United States as he chose to not to travel as he seeks clarification on his future.

Now the Express say that a fee of £40million plus £5million in add-ons is now enough for the Swans to part ways with their best performing player of last season.

Paul Clement had been holding out for £50m for the Icelandic international but is willing to compromise as he plans to seek a smooth transition without Sigurdsson.

The move could free-up funds to reinvent with Jack Wilshere, Jonathan Viera and Phillip Billing all linked with moves to the Liberty Stadium in the last few weeks.

Everton are willing to offer Sigurdsson £90,00 a week to move to Goodison Park as well as the opportunity to play in the Europa League as they prepare for their Europa League qualifier against Slovakian side Ružomberok.

There have been some question marks over the valuation of Sigurdsson but the Reading youth academy product could be justified considering his statistics in the Premier League over the last three seasons.

He’s ranked joint second in the amount of goals a Premier League midfielder has scored over the last three seasons with nine of those coming last season.

Outside the top six sides, Sigurdsson is the best ranked midfielder in terms of assists, setting up 26 goals during his time as a Swansea player, overall he is fifth, only behind elite players like Cesc Fabregas, Mesut Ozil, Christian Eriksen and Kevin de Bruyne.

With Ross Barkley looking to leave Meryseyside, Sigurdsson is looking like an apt replacement for the outgoing midfielder.
